This is not a clinical research project and we are not CNN. We are a group of talented independent filmmakers looking to help you share your story.
Whether yours is a story of success, or one of ongoing struggle, it is one that deserves to be heard. Our film seeks to raise PTSD awareness and encourage a multitude of therapeutic treatment options both amongst veterans and within the population at large. This project?s aim is not to create a political expose or a reality TV sob story. Our soul interest is to create an inspirational character-driven documentation of individual journeys to overcome the psychological effects of trauma.
We are a Connecticut-based independent production company affiliated with the Yale University Department of Medicine and Psychiatry, Columbia University, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, working under a grant from a private medical foundation. Our goal for the upcoming weeks is to complete a five-minute ?sample reel? including footage from actual psychotherapy sessions with trauma-effected patients. We will then use this reel to raise funds for a full-length program.
The filmmakers involved in the creation of this project have experience filming in therapeutic settings and are extremely sensitive to issues of privacy and confidentiality. Understanding the limitations, our mission in creating this film is to educate and encourage. With the mutual consent and cooperation of both therapist and patient, we hope to demystify the therapeutic process, to show what treatment options exist, and to communicate the idea that trauma is as personal as it is collective.
At this stage of production we are looking to make contact with combat veterans with PTSD diagnoses who are located in the CT/NY area, and who are willing to allow us to film a therapy session. If you are interested and already in treatment please speak with your current therapist to see if they are receptive to the idea of being filmed. If you are not currently engaged in a therapeutic relationship but wish to share your story with other veterans and trauma survivors, we would be happy to match you with a participating therapist, and/or hear about your past experiences with PTSD treatment.
If you are interested in being a part of our film, or if you would like more information on any facet of this project or its affiliates, please feel free to contact me via email email@example.com
We look forward to hearing from you!
